Shut the F*ck Up - Come Together Deep & Progressive House DJ set

Should America have a National Divorce? Want to heal America? Shut the fuck up for a while."

A deep & progressive house DJ set for people who love America.

Bill Maher is a trip. My first major introduction to him was with his film, “Religilous”, where he toured the nation and documented / mocked America’s major religions and the people who love them. I found it full of cheap shots at woefully easy targets and generally unfunny and opportunistic.  Fast forward 20 years, and we have Bill Maher sounding more like a conservative than the liberal he proclaims to me. Joe Rogan asked him about it. Maher said,

“People say to me, ‘Don’t you think you’ve gotten more conservative?’ No, I haven’t,” Maher said. “The Left has gotten goofier. So, I seem more conservative, maybe. But like, it’s not me who changed. I feel I’m the same guy.”

Here it is, incase you are curious:

Ah, how Overton Window has shifted and created the strangest bedfellows. I’m a fan. I love it.

I sympathize tremendously with Maher. I’m not a Republican, I’m not a Democrat. Real talk – I’m a registered Libertarian, but I’ve lost all faith in the movement as a legitimate political movement.  I leave my voter registration as Libertarian as a minuscule act of charity for a philosophy that I love, even if they’ll never get their shit together enough to elect anything more than a PTA president.

I digress. We are supposed to be talking sexy beats, deep & dark progressive house vibes…

BUT HERE’S THE THING –

I’m still that kid, in a super traditional, conservative Mormon family & community in Northern Utah, who has a funny feeling in his tummy that there is a narrative here that could, and should, be pushed against.  I’m still that kid who, to my parents chagrin, was raised on classic Metallica, Anthrax, Megadeth, Rush, The Beastie Boys, NWA, Ice T, The Ghetto Boys, Dirty Rotten Imbeciles, and a myriad of other music that raised it’s finger to the establishment and fought for our right to be autonomous, free thinking individuals.

I come to Electronic Dance Music as that same kid. I’ve just been around the sun a few more times, seen a few more things, loved & lost a few more times, and have a deeper appreciation for life.  Same kid though.  And as it turns out, I was born for this era.

Growing up on Sci-Fi, dystopian novels, and Biblical prophecies, I was raised to believe that some day, shit was going to get super bad, and there would be a WAR – not necessarily a war fought with bullets, but a spiritual war that would be every bit as ferocious. 16 year old Paul did not believe he would live to see that day.

That day is here.

…. much to my chagrin.

The priests and politicians have become liars. The newsmen are shameless propaganda peddlers.  The comedians have become the truth tellers.

And so, I bring to you, the yin & yang of consciousness and release, of fight and coexistence, of serious conversation and the best fucking cocktail & dance party you will ever go to.

This is Soul Anarchy.

I hope you enjoy the set, my friends.

much love –

Paul Duane
